Full-Time Montessori Infant (6 Weeks–15 Months) Assistant Teacher Opportunity

ROLE: Montessori Infant Assistant Teacher
LOCATION: Villa Park, IL
Program Hours: Year-Round | 7:00am–6:00pm
SALARY: $18–$20 per hour, based on experience and qualifications, full-time
START DATE: ASAP

Montessori Children’s Academy is seeking a calm, compassionate, and dependable Infant Assistant Teacher to join our Nido program serving children ages 6 weeks to 15 months.

This role is for educators who understand that Montessori infant care is distinct from traditional daycare and who are committed to respectful, responsive caregiving. Our Nido is licensed for 12 infants, and teamwork and consistency are essential.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Eligibility under Illinois DCFS infant requirements

  • Comfort and confidence working closely with infants

  • Openness to Montessori philosophy and infant practices

  • Strong communication skills and flexibility

  • Ability to work outdoors daily, including infant walks with multi-seat stroller

  • A desire to build long-term relationships within a school community

Key Responsibilities

Infant Care & Environment

  • Support a peaceful, developmentally appropriate Nido environment

  • Provide attentive care during feeding, diapering, sleeping, and transitions & log electronically

  • Observe and respond thoughtfully to infants’ cues and needs, bringing patience and calm presence

  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and order in compliance with DCFS standards

Collaboration & Team Support

  • Work closely with the Lead Directress and Infant/Toddler team

  • Step in to support classroom coverage as needed, taking initiative where needed

  • Communicate clearly about observations, concerns, and classroom needs

Professional Expectations

  • Maintain warmth, reliability, and professionalism

  • Participate in training and apply learning consistently

  • Adhere to all health, safety, and licensing requirements

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Infant sign language

  • Specialized infant training (infant massage, RIE/Pikler-informed care)

  • Montessori infant experience
