Upper Elementary Montessori Guide Opportunity – Springmont School

ROLE: Upper Elementary Montessori Guide
LOCATION: Atlanta, GA
SALARY: 50,000–58,000, based on experience

Springmont School seeks a dedicated and experienced Upper Elementary Lead Guide to join our vibrant school community for the 2025–2026 academic year. This is an exciting opportunity for an AMI-trained educator to contribute to our authentic Montessori program that values diversity, global awareness, and the development of the whole child.

Located on a beautiful campus with access to a unique land school in North Georgia, Springmont serves children from infancy through adolescence in a community grounded in respect, curiosity, and engaged learning. Our outdoor education program, including overnight trips for Elementary students and beyond, and classroom gardens make our program distinctive.

The Upper Elementary Lead Guide will join a team that values collaboration, authenticity, and a deep commitment to Montessori principles. Reporting to the Toddler/Primary Division Head, the Lead Guide will work in partnership with an assistant, enrichment specialists, and families to guide each child's academic and personal growth in alignment with Montessori philosophy and Springmont's mission to cultivate independent, compassionate learners.

The ideal Upper Elementary Guide at Springmont will have:

  • AMI 6–12 certification (required)

  • A bachelor's degree in education or a related field

  • At least 2 years of lead teaching experience in a Montessori elementary classroom (preferred)

  • A demonstrated commitment to authentic Montessori practice

  • Experience with neurodiverse learners and high emotional intelligence

  • Comfort with outdoor education and overnight trips to our land school

  • Strong collaboration skills to build relationships with children, families, and colleagues

  • A passion for fostering independence, curiosity, and love of learning

  • Commitment to professional growth and reflective practice

Responsibilities

Planning, Preparation and Instruction

  • Design and facilitate AMI-aligned instruction for students ages 9–12

  • Create interdisciplinary, inquiry-driven lessons appropriate for the second plane of development

  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs

  • Utilize Transparent Classroom for record-keeping and communication

  • Collaborate with student support staff to implement accommodations

Classroom Environment and Management

  • Maintain a prepared environment that fosters independence and responsibility

  • Model conflict resolution and community-building strategies

  • Establish routines that support executive functioning

  • Guide students in balancing freedom with responsibility

Communication

  • Build strong relationships with students and families through regular communication

  • Write class newsletters to offer periodic updates and participate in school events

  • Conduct conferences and complete progress reports

  • Support parent understanding of Montessori philosophy

Professional Responsibility

  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events

  • Contribute to our collaborative adult learning community

  • Help maintain our campus environment and gardens

  • Lead annual overnight trips to our land school
